PTO Event: Moving to a New School Meeting – Tonight!

-The meeting consists of two parts. Come for one or both!

• Part I – 5:45-6:15 What’s next? New School after Montessori.

(A panel of past Montessori families talk about their transition and what they want you to know).

• Part II – 6:20-6:50 Why Montessori Kindergarten OR What You Want to Know About the Montessori Elementary Class. You would attend one or the other.

• Babysitting for Montessori children and their siblings begins at 5:30 and ends at 6:55. Drop off and pickup will be in the dining room.
• Click on the emailed Notes Home link to signup.
• Spots are limited to the first 50 children signed up.
• Pizza will be served to the children.

Thanksgiving Break will be from Wednesday, November 26^th through Friday, November 28^th.

• Children with AM and/or PM care in their program may attend their regular hours on Wednesday, November 26^th for daycare activities. Reminder – there will be no car lines for drop offs or pickups.
• The building will not be open for school or daycare on Thursday, November 27^th and Friday, November 28^th.

A few reminders –  

Arriving on time to school – Please arrive before 8:45

• Late arrivals are disruptive to your child and their classroom.
• All Preprimary classes are outside at 8:45, at different locations.
• The office staff is not always available to answer the front door when we are getting children, who arrive late, to their correct outdoor play area.
• If arriving after 8:45, children must be accompanied to the door by an adult until a staff member opens the front door. 

Jackets, sweaters, etc. – It’s the time of year for colder weather in the morning, please send your child with a jacket/coat for outdoor playtime and remember to put your child’s name or initials inside to avoid any lost items. Thanks!

If your child has a fever, is vomiting and/or has diarrhea, they must stay home for 24 hours from their last symptom; even if this happened over the weekend. 

Sending things to school via Montessori bag – If you are sending an item in the Montessori bag, please let us know via email. We do not regularly check the children’s bags.

Scholastic Book Fair Sales – Thank you to all families who helped to support our fall book fair! The total earnings from our school were $2,579.08 and our teachers received $850.00 in Scholastic Dollars to use for new classroom books!!

Daylight Savings ends this Sunday, November 2^nd. The time will fall back 1 hour Sunday morning.

School Pictures begin tomorrow:

            Thursday, October 30^th – The Tulip, Dogwood & Sequoia Rooms.

            Friday, October 31^st – The Willow, Oak & Magnolia Rooms.

• Filled out forms are due back before or on your child’s picture day.
• Make up photos will also be taken on these days (Oct. 30^th & 31^st).

Friday, November 7^th – Preprimary Parent/Teacher Conferences

(The Magnolia, Willow, Tulip and Oak Rooms – not Dogwood)

• Look for an email from your child’s teacher regarding how to sign up for this conference (in person or Zoom).
• There will be No School for all Preprimary classes only – daycare for students with AM and/or PM care in their program.
• The Sequoia Room (Elementary) will have school.
• Children may not attend the parent teacher conferences. The teacher reserves the right to cancel a conference if your child is present.
• Information that your teacher shares with you about your child, should not be shared with your child.
• Please contact the office with any questions about conferences.

PTO Costume Party – Volunteers needed!

• When: This Friday, October 17^th.
• Time: 5:30-7:30 PM.
• Who: Current Montessori families, including siblings.
• Food/Drink: Pizza and beverages.
• Wear: Costumes- parents are welcome to dress up.
  • no weapons please, even if they are part of a costume.
• Cost: $0! This free event is hosted by The Montessori PTO!

            Tuesday, October 21^st –

            All of The Dogwood & Willow Rooms.

            Wednesday, October 22^nd –

            All of The Magnolia & Tulip Rooms.

• Parent volunteers are not needed.
• Sunscreen should be applied prior to arriving at school.
• Students should wear their Montessori t-shirt and shoes with a closed back. No sandals or flip flops.
• Children will return to school at 11:30 AM.

Car line on Field Trips Days –

• We will do a car line at 8:00 AM separately for families whose children are attending the field trip that day.
• Children going on the field trip need to be in the building no later than 8:15 AM.
• Siblings can be dropped off at the same time.
• Regular 8:20 car line for children not going on the field trip.

Fall Book Fair – Volunteers needed!

• Monday, October 20^th – Friday, October 24^th
• Book Fair hours:
  • 11:45-12:15 ONLY for half day students wanting to visit after dismissal.
  • 3:00-5:00 for the rest of the students.
  • Children may not be pulled out of class time to attend the book fair.
• Located in the Multi-purpose Room.
• Children must be accompanied by an adult and can only attend during the above-mentioned hours.

PTO Event: Mum Sale – Forms w/payment are due by the end of today.

• Pickup will be Tuesday, September 23^rd. *UPDATED*
• No pots, no stems – just funds from friends! If you do not wish to purchase any mums, a donation to the PTO is an option!

International Day of Peace is Sunday, September 21^st – We will be observing it this Friday, September 19^th.

• PTO will be hosting a Meet & Greet Coffee and Donuts from 10:00-11:00 in the Multipurpose Room.
• The children will be singing and signing the song, “Light a Candle for Peace,” from 11:00-11:15.
• Parents are welcome to come and watch outside in our back patio area.
• Half day children can be picked up after the performance; please let the office know if you’re picking up early.

There will not be a time for children and parents to meet before, during or after the singing. If you are coming that morning, please let your child know that you will be there to watch, but will not be picking up at that time. There have been a few tears in the past due to this possible misunderstanding.

Practice Singing & Signing “Light a Candle for Peace” with your child– A big Thank You to Ms. Lori from the Oak room, who composed a Mashup of the song for us!
