Montessoire 2022 – PTO’s annual fundraising dinner.

Because of our Covid protocols, each PM care group has a limited amount of time to stretch their legs, run around, and enjoy their fantasy games before their time is up. After you pick up your child, please do not linger by the playground and allow your child to interact with the children playing. We recommend a quick wave goodbye so the PM care children can continue playing.

Families w/o AM Care must use the car line when dropping their child off at school.

PM care pick ups – Please supervise children on the front lawn after PM Care pick up.

• Children should not play in the landscaped areas.
• Adults and children aged 3 and older must wear their face mask when entering the building.

Montessori Borrowed Clothes – Please remember to return washed Montessori borrowed clothing in a timely manner.

Sunscreens, lotions, creams, over the counter medicine, chap stick, prescription medicine –

Normally, parents would fill out a form at the front desk and leave the item there, but now that’s not possible. The new protocol will be to send us an email before you drop off in the AM. Then, hand the item off to the staff person upon dropping off or put in your child’s bag; we’ll get it out before school starts. Sarah and Kristi typically read their email before 8:30 drop off or immediately after.

The email needs to tell us:

• Name of item
• How much to use
• What time to give or apply
• If it needs to return home each day (ie) prescription medicine.

For example: Sunscreen, apply to face/arms/legs before going outside. Or, chapstick, use as needed.

Ideally you would send the email to: kgaultmontessori@gmail.com, sarahspelbring@gmail.com and the child’s teacher. This will ensure it’s retrieved ASAP.

Extra Masks – Are for the emergency that may happen here at school-a very productive sneeze. If you want your child to or your child needs to switch out during the day, leave an additional mask in their bag.

If your child is vomiting and/or has diarrhea, they must stay home for 72 hours since their last symptom; even if this happens over the weekend.

• There will be No School.
• Children who attend 8:30-2:45 will not come for daycare days.
• If your child has AM and/or PM care in their program, they may attend their regular hours for daycare activities. Reminder – There will be no car lines for drop offs or pickups on daycare days.
• If your child is not attending on a daycare day please remember to select “No Lunch” on EZ School so that you are not charged for a lunch that day.

Preprimary Field Trip – Parent volunteers are not needed. More information closer to the field trip date.

Thursday, September 9^th – First PTO Meeting-Welcome to your child’s class!   

• 5:45-6:15 Meeting: Welcome by PTO and then meet w/your child’s teacher.
• This meeting is adults only – due to our covid policy and separate groups, we will not be able to provide babysitting.
• The teacher will do a 25-minute presentation about what you can expect this year.
• PTO will introduce themselves and mention upcoming events for those who would like to volunteer.

The August 27^th PTO Family Picnic has been canceled. Upon reflection of our covid policies, we need to maintain our cohort groups and limit exposure to children from other school districts.

Standardized Testing for Mr. R’s class has started and will go through Tuesday, May 18^th.

Things to look for in May:

School Bookfair – Our School Bookfair starts Monday, May 10^th and will run through Sunday, May 23^rd.

• Like in the fall, our bookfair will be online.
• All orders ship directly to your home and orders over $25 ship free to your home.

Mr. R’s Parent/Teacher Conferences will be Friday, May 21^st. No school on conference day for Mr. R’s class, daycare for students with AM and/or PM care in their program. Mr. R will send an email regarding online signups.

Parent/Teacher Conferences for all of the Preprimary classes (Mrs. Theriac, Ms. Sarah, Mrs. Corn, Ms. Lori and Ms. April) will be on Thursday, May 27^th. No school for preprimary classes on conference day. Students who have AM and/or PM care in their program may attend their regular hours for daycare activities. Look for an email in the coming weeks from your child’s teacher regarding how to sign up.

Field Trip on the last day of school – Mrs. Theriac, Ms. Sarah, Mrs. Corn, Ms. Lori and Ms. April classes; children need to be at Montessori by 8:45.

Last Day of School Dismissal (May 28^th) – Preprimary Classes will dismiss at 11:45 and Mr. R’s class will dismiss at 12:15. If your child has PM care in his/her program or the All Day program (7:00-5:30), daycare/lunch will start at 11:45.

Montessori will be totally closed, no school or daycare, Memorial Day week: May 31^st– June 4^th.

Mask Advisory starting April 6^th – Under the state’s new mask advisory, the current mask protocol will still be in effect in Indiana K-12 Schools for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.  All Montessori employees, students and people who need to enter the school will be required to wear a mask.
